Daniel hears of seventy “weeks” decreed for his people and holy city. The final week includes a covenant, a midpoint disruption of sacrifice, and desolation.

Where interpretations differ

Futurist readings often place the final week in a future tribulation. Other readings connect its fulfillment primarily to Christ’s first coming and/or Jerusalem’s destruction in AD 70. Christians also differ on the identity of the covenant-maker.
